Dr. Ronald Joseph Lin was born on December 21, 1981 in Hoboken, NJ. His parents immigrated from Taiwan in 1980 in search of the American Dream. His father was a master's student at Stevens Institute of Technology and his mother was a homemaker. In 1987, his mother gave birth to Ronald's younger brother, George.
Ronald's parents decided there was no better way to honor their new adopted homeland by naming their first born child after the nation's President at the time, Ronald Wilson Reagan. Ronald's parents, like most traditional Asians then and now, tend to lean towards conservative values like self reliance and hard work.
Ronald is a life long Bergen County resident having gone to elementary school, middle school and high school in Fair Lawn. Ronald is a graduate of Brandeis University and Thomas Jefferson School of Law. At Brandeis, Ronald double majored in Political Science and Economics while minoring in Philosophy.
Ronald holds the unique distinction of being the first and only American in history to have obtained both the LL.M. (Master of Laws) and S.J.D. (Doctorate of Legal Science) degrees from Zhejiang University’s prestigious law school where his dissertation focused on International and Comparative Law.
For the past several years, Ronald served as an Adjunct and Visiting Professor at a number of prestigious universities in Asia where he taught a wide range of college and graduate level courses on American law and politics as well as East Asian history, contemporary social issues and business related courses.
Apart from teaching and lecturing, Ronald's research and writings have been published in a number of highly indexed international academic journals. Although no longer in Asia, Dr. Lin still lectures remotely at a number of universities abroad.
Before entering academia, Ronald worked as a Legal and Compliance Manager for a private equity firm and also held positions at some of the largest multinational financial institutions and insurance companies in New York City.
While at Brandeis University, Ronald interned and worked extensively and in a variety of positions in government on the county, state and federal levels within the offices of the County Executive, a U.S. Congressman, a U.S. Senator and Governor. During this time, Ronald was also intimately involved in the election campaigns of several candidates and politicians and served as the Director of Campaign Operations for a New Jersey State Assembly campaign.
Ronald is also the Founder and Host of "Real Talk With Ronnie", a political podcast where Ronald sits down for exclusive interviews with up and coming political figures in New Jersey and beyond! In the past, Ronald has sat down with notable figures such as Jack Ciattarelli, Frank Pallotta and Bridget Kelly. RTWR is aired live every Sunday night at 8 PM. Despite the many roles Ronald has had so far, the title and role he relishes the most is that of husband and father. Having experienced the joy and miracle of becoming a father last year, Ronald’s predominant focus now is to make sure that his son Donald, whom Ronald named after President Donald Trump, is afforded every single benefit and opportunity that he himself had as a child growing up in Bergen County.
Sadly, however, due to the broken system and promises that have plagued much of the state, the Bergen County of today is no where near where it should be. As County Commissioner, Ronald will make sure that accountability is back on the table. A sound system of checks and balances is a must while exorbitant tax rates and suffocating restrictions on our freedoms must go.
Democrats and liberals like to divide us up into as many groups as possible and identity politics is their bread and butter. As Republicans, we're better than this. We understand, appreciate and celebrate our respective backgrounds, cultures and unique differences. But while we are all proud of our heritage, we are prouder of the fact that we are all, at the end of the day, Americans.
Together we are one and while the Democrats preach the gospels of division and exclusion, we stress the importance of being inclusive, open-minded and active. Let's all be Active Americans and together, make Bergen County great again!
Ronald is the Founder and President of the New Jersey Republican Active American Association, a grassroots group focused on bringing together all Americans from every walk of life and from every single background to be more engaged and active in the political process. This passion project which Ronald started at the beginning of this year has already boasted over 600 members. Please join the NJRAAA by clicking on the button below!
Ronald will make sure that the fine residents and constituents of this great county are his first and foremost priority. That means phone calls get returned and questions get answered. For far too long, the Democrats in charge on the county level have ignored the people who voted them in. Well now, it's time to vote them out!
The key to having a prosperous county and a thriving economy is less government and lower taxes. These are concepts that the Democrats have never understood but thankfully, YOU the people do! Under Democratic rule, your property taxes have skyrocketed and they always seem to want to tax you more. This is wrong and it will stop when Ronald gets into office.
Our current county government make up is comprised only of Democrats and that is wrong. One party rule goes against the very spirit of our country and Ronald will work to bring accountability, oversight and good governance back to county government. When one party is entrenched for too long, the ones who ultimately suffer are the citizens that put them there. Let's end this now.
June 8th Republican Primary Countdown!
